In Norse mythology the eternal snake is named Yggdrasil and represents death, destruction and pain. The snake of Jormungandr that wraps around all of existence
Vikings were skilled in ironwork. For those of high status, burial involved metal weapons with symbols carved into them such as the snake. Sea burials were most common. Islamic silver and symbols were integrating into norwegian illustrations due to viking travel expeditions.
